Whether you work as a privately practicing
therapist, or as an employee, you will be
challenged by legal and ethical issues.
Addressing these issues, while remaining
ethical, often poses a dilemma.
Historically, occupational therapy ethics has
been governed by a code of ethics entitled
“Code of Ethics” by the American
Occupational Therapy Association. These
ethical codes can be used to address value
conflicts. In this course, we present basic
information about ethics and the AOTA Code of
Ethics. We also present a model that can
be used to analyze ethical issues.
Perhaps most importantly, we provide numerous
practice activities and scenarios that allow
you to utilize your learned skill to analyze
situations that occur in the practice of
occupational therapy. Contains the AOTA
Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Ethics
Standards (2010).
